Other ISU Extension and Outreach, Polk County Programs

Polk County Extension serves Iowans through four program areas: Agriculture and Natural Resources, Human Sciences, 4-H Youth Development and Community Economic Development.

The Polk County Extension Council, county staff and ISU Extension and Outreach staff work together to provide research-based learning opportunities for our citizens. Through this partnership, we carry Iowa State University's land-grant mission across Polk County.

4-H & Youth

Iowa 4-H Youth Development is the premier youth development program of Iowa State University Extension and Outreach. Providing research-based education to K-12 youth, Iowa 4-H focuses on Healthy Living, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math), Leadership and Civic Engagement, and Communication and the Arts. Polk County 4-H builds upon more than a century of experience in positive youth development partnering with youth to help them find their passion.

Agriculture & Environment

Polk County Extension Ag and Natural Resources signature programs include the Polk County Master Gardener volunteer program and the Master Conservationist Program. Other focus areas including farm management education, and technical expertise for crops, livestock and pests to help you make informed decisions.
