Join the Polk County Master Gardener's program night with a presentation and discussion by Lynette Thornton on overcoming barriers when working with others in the garden. Often we come from diverse backgrounds and experiences which affect the way we garden, our methods, and the reasons and goals we have for gardening. Learn about how we can grow together in the garden, diverse methods of gardening and perhaps some new plants and their uses.

Lynette Thornton works for Lutheran Services, in Iowa's Global Greens program, connecting former refugee families to small garden plots near their homes through partnerships with the City of Des Moines, volunteers, and private land owners. She is also a new Master Gardener working through her internship. We welcome Lynette to the Master Gardener community in Polk County and are excited about the insight and experience she brings to the organization.

The evening is appropriate for gardeners of all experience levels and backgrounds. MG leadership is strongly encouraged to attend with special opportunities on this night to reconnect and share updates with one another. We will have soup supper as always. If you can share a soup please contact Mary Poulter at poultermk76@gmail.com
